NewSpace Chicago welcomes CU Aerospace (CUA), a 26-year old small business located in Champaign, IL, that has developed a family of innovative space propulsion technologies to meet a variety of modern satellite needs. These systems are focused on providing small and micro satellites options for collision avoidance, maneuvering, and deorbiting at end-of-useful life. Additionally, CUA has evolved a versatile payload interface with docking, power transfer, and data transfer capabilities to help enable space sustainability via modular in-space assembly and manufacturing.
The event will feature Dr. David L. Carroll, who co-founded CU Aerospace in 1998 and has served as its President since 2011. The company’s focus is engineering innovation for new aerospace technology products. He received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1992. He was a Visiting Professor at UIUC from 2011-2016. He was inducted as a Fellow of the AIAA in 2011 and a Fellow of SPIE in 2015.
